Katie Johnson, FNP
Katie was born in Wise VA, but grew up primarily in Kingsport, TN. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the ANCC. She obtained her Masters Degree from ETSU, she has worked with Crossroads Medical Mission since.
She married her husband, Dale, in 2003. They have three children – Lily, Sam, and Ella.
Jessica Herman, FNP
A native of Elizabethton, Tennessee, Jessica is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. A recent graduate of E.T.S.U.’s FNP program, Jessica worked in the ICU at Sycamore Shoals Hospital and has been with Crossroads Medical Mission since June 2014. Jessica and her husband, David, completed the FNP program together and currently live with their three dogs in Johnson City.
Jessica is an active member of Highlands Fellowship Church and volunteered with Crossroads Medical Mission at Highlands Fellowship before joining our staff.
Paul Derden, MD
A native Texan, Paul is a board-certified family physician. He received his MD from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1982, and completed his residency in family medicine at ETSU’s Bristol Family Medicine Residency Program in 1985. Over the years he has worked as an assistant professor of Family Medicine, in the emergency department, in private practice, in a community health center, and in urgent care clinics, all in the local area. He currently works as a ‘company doctor’ at Bristol Compressors, practicing family medicine and occupational medicine.
His wife, Jaymie, is director of Children and Family Ministries at State Street United Methodist Church, and consults with other churches on the development of the rotation model Sunday school program. Their children are Bethany and Jonathan.
Tim Schwob, MD
An Illinois native, Tim is a board-certified family physician. He received his medical degree from Ross University in 1983, and completed his residency training in family medicine at ETSU’s Bristol Family Medicine Residency Program in 1986. He has worked emergency medicine, private practice, and in urgent care in the Tri-Cities area. He is currently the medical director of Mountain State’s urgent care clinics and their Telemedicine program, as well as a provider in both services.
He and his wife, Tammy, have been married since 1986. She works for a local respiratory care company, and is involved in children’s Sunday School. They have a daughter, Alex.
Hannah Monk, Executive Assistant
A native of Bristol, VA, she has worked with Crossroads since 2016. Prior to working with CMM, she worked in a local pediatricians office. She and her boyfriend Kevin are raising a loving, adorable son, Noah. Kevin is the head basketball coach at Virginia High.
Lawana Musgrove, Administrative Assistant
Lawana, a Bristol native, came on staff at Crossroads in January 2015 after being a longtime volunteer. Prior to joining CMM, Lawana worked as an administrative assistant for the Dean of Students at Virginia Intermont College for 12 years. She and her husband Walt have two grown children, Aaron (wife, Hilary) and Sara Kennedy (husband, Paul).
Cindy Rockett, Executive Director
Cindy is the mission’s executive director, she has lived long enough in the Bristol area to be considered a ‘local.’ Her husband, Bob, is a teacher in Washington County, Virginia public schools. They have two grown children, Donn and Joy well as three grandchildren. Prior to joining Crossroads, Cindy worked as the program director for State Street UMC and as office manager for Wallace Mitsubishi at Wallace Automotive Group in Bristol, TN.
Cindy joined the mission full-time in April 2004. Her role includes directing fundraising efforts, managing the finances, handling publications and publicity, coordinating volunteer efforts, representing the mission to various groups, and she even assists on-board. Cindy recently earned her undergraduate degree at Virginia Intermont College and earned her Masters Degree in Community and Organization Leadership through Emory & Henry College.
